How ya going?
This is actually the most common greeting, not "G'day mate". Everybody uses it. If you thank anybody for anything they say "That's awright". Many of anything is a "heap". When you buy a round at the bar you give a "shout". Only elderly people "nap", everyone else has a "rest". If you like anything you're "keen on it". It's fun hearing it all. You have to pay close attention that's for sure.
We took a few more photos of the Australian summer before school starts. They are of Kyle surfing, Jake skim boarding, Mariah posing, a sandcastle competition on our beach, Crowdy Head lighthouse and if you look close at Jake's picture skimming towards the waves you can see Karen lounging against the rocks in the background. She won't let me post any photos of her in her beach attire so I kinda snuck that one in....
We've had horrific car problems. Never, never, never buy a car over the internet...When we picked it up after already paying for it we found out that it wouldn't go into 4th gear or more importantly into Reverse. $271 later we had that fixed. 3 days ago we were up in Port Macquarie (an hour north) and the car was completely dead in a parking lot. The starter motor is dead and so we popped the clutch and got it back to Old Bar and got it back into the shop again...The guy we bought it from is safely in Colorado and we have no recourse whatsoever. Of course, selling it and buying another could be a big money loser again so we may stick with it. I repeat never, never, never buy a car online.
Other than that things are good. We kind of have our first clouds in two weeks. The news indicates we may get thunder storms tonight. The locals definitely hope so.
Hope you keep enjoying the photos. No broadband connection yet, but it should come soon. Who's going to win: the Bears or the Colts?
Love, the Steens
